Changing Landscapes

posted Apr 17, 2011, 8:35 PM by Christine Darragh

The art of local revitalization.  Areas often need to change and sometimes "reinvent" themselves in order to spark a new found dynamism.  It's such a tricky challenge, fraught with many preconceived notions, ideas and opinions.  My feature article will focus on three local locations that are currently facing this situation.  Can we come to some collective agreement on a "responsible" path to revitalize the spaces that surround us?

Alphabet Photography's Jennifer Blakeley is the subject of an upcoming profile in N.M's Spring issue.  I interviewed Jennifer about her amazing global success with Alphabet Photography, her new baby, Brooke, entrepreneurial inspirations and life revelations.  Her personal story has taken a turn over the last year-and-a-half, but she has come through everything with a new-found, inspiring perspective to share.  The magazine took her photo for the piece on a pile of garbage - how avant-garde!

Just finishing up my feature article on the War of 1812 - the bicentennial celebrations are starting up, don't ya know...  To be included in N.M.'s Spring issue.  Many thanks to all the knowledgeable, scholarly contributors who gave their time, insight and writings to use in the article!  The piece, "What if...the Americans had Won?"...coming soon...but I'll give you a little historical spoiler...it really ended in a stalemate.  Keep it to yourself.

Completed my interview with the great Daryl Hall regarding his ongoing conservation insights and restoration projects!  What can I say?  Fascinating guy, incredible devotion to promoting a much needed 'preservation army' - "sigh...," if only there were more people like him.
Expecting to accompany the photographer to the upcoming shoot and see this all for myself.  Can't wait...
